Happy Wednesday, everyone! If this cool weather has got you feeling like Spring will never truly arrive, I’ve got an engagement session that will change your mind! Cameron and Chas opted for a warm weather session leading up to their May wedding and it was everything we all could have hoped for and MORE. These two are new to the Hannah Barlow Photography blogs too so please give them all your love and ENJOY!

I “know” Chas from his brother’s wedding back in 2021 but it’s literally been that long since I’ve seen him, I think (well…not including our pre-booking consult…which…now that I’m thinking about it…I don’t think he was there…it’s all going together in my brain now)…but anyway… It made me keep reminding myself, “He’s not new here…he knows how I am”! All the Hannah energy and all the wild ideas. I told them this was our first “trust” exercise – wedding photographer client edition. These two showed up ready to go! Pink is the color of their wedding so how fitting that’s what they chose for their engagement photos too!! Everything will match and you know I LOVE that!

We went back and forth on date and location. Then, Cameron’s ring needed resized a second time so we were unsure if this would even happen…and it did! She did send me an inspo. list that sent me into a full Hannah spiral, at first. You know me, I want to give my clients the perfect photos they’ve always dreamed and envisioned. This field location was where we originally planned to do photos and then she sent me her inspo photos and I thought, “Crap. This isn’t going to work out.” So I went into a minor short lived but full Hannah tissy and went looking for other locations and she was all “It’s finnnneeee. Let’s stick with this spot”. And she was right…this was IT! It’s so beautiful!

We took a little hike and I wandered…as I do. AND we found this field with the most perfect golden light…like PERFECT!

…and when I say “perfect light”…I meant it! Cameron’s inspo was more dreamy. More glowy light. Lots of kisses…..and so many ring photos I couldn’t keep track. SO, it was my plan to take her inspiration and turn it into “Cameron and Chas” and since they are super laid back here and patient…I was able to play with allllll the angles to get one of my most favorite photos EVER!!!!!!!!

At this point the clouds were coming in and out…in and out…so we focused more on the ring because that was the priority for a lot of photos!

There wasn’t a pose we did that I didn’t love for these two!

I envisioned this beautiful photo. It’s perfect, right?

But this…is what actually happened first. Reality vs. finished product. “Pick her up under her butt and lift her in the air” was my prompt. Chas didn’t even hesitate. And this is what we got…”Ummmm. Good job…but no”. HA! We quickly retried for the most perfect lift photo above!

It’s at this point of every session we’re all comfortable and we’d already flew through most of the poses I had in my head so I started rapid firing prompts at them and again…they didn’t miss a BEAT!

The clouds were starting to roll in so we moved back to this bridge which has been a favorite spot of mine for years!

Many of Cameron’s inspo pictures were darker than my typical style but also had that dramatic light and glow SO…I saw an opportunity in this field when I first arrived. We all jumped in our cars and pulled off the side of the road before we finished up and used this field and light to get THOSE PHOTOS!

Absolutely magical and dreamy, right?! This was totally a successful group project and I’m so excited for their wedding which is next up on my calendar!!!!!! They’ve got a jam packed and amazing vendor team and I can’t wait to see it all come together! SO…check back soon as they’ll be a bride and groom!
Pulled from the archives! Can’t wait to see the Snider family again! And to see Cameron’s mom again AND meet the rest of her family! Let’s do this!
