Summer Monarch Veil Wedding | Julianna + Jesse

Hello! Happy Monday…no, it’s Tuesday!! It’s one of those days! Holidays always throw me off, I tell ya! We just kept plugging along in August and now, as I sit here and type this, I realize it’s September! August was my biggest month for weddings and this wedding was my last one for the month before moving into September! Do you remember Julianna and Jesse? You should! We just photographed their engagement session less than two months ago (See it HERE). I got to meet Jesse’s mom that day too so I rolled into their wedding with familiar faces! It was our first time at Monarch Veil too and a new venue is always exciting. I want to preface by saying Julianna stacked here vendor team and even though we had not met one another prior to this day…we worked like a well oiled machine! HUGE shoutout to Monarch Veil’s staff for welcoming us with open arms! We appreciate you!

So, without further ado, let’s celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs. Crane! Their wedding is on the blog right now!

Lacey and I arrived early to get the lay of the land (as we always do at new venues) and we went right into detail photos with our new video friend Tyler of Tyler Newpol films! We’d talked a few times prior about logistics to get a feel for how we wanted to run the day. Julianna had a long list of requests and a tight timeline (lookin’ at you, girllllll I know you love ALLLL the details and photos) so we knew we needed to be well organized and hit the ground running AND that’s just what we did. We got right down to tag teaming details and August just kept giving me greatness because I was given another wedding packed with COLOR and probably some of my favorite detail photos I have shot TO DATE.

So, I’m not going to stop here…I’m going to keep going with the detail photos because it was so pretty I couldn’t stop AND I knew Julianna loved allllllll the details so I used that as my excuse to just keep snap…snap…snapping away! Tyler, Lacey and I were generally having a great time doing these, as well…we even shared lenses and helped each other make that great light! This…THIS…Ooo my goodness might also be my favorite ring photo EVER! The amount of texts I got about this one can’t be counted!

Don’t worry though…we weren’t leaving anything out! Of course, we were tag teaming the getting ready portion of the day too!

Black and white photos of Bride getting hair and make up done

While we were waiting on the guys to arrive and the ladies to finish up with hair and makeup, I ran up and photographed some reception and this cookie table. This becomes quite the main character throughout the day…you just wait and see! I’ll tell you all about it!

Once we had all the men, Jesse’s mom went outside with us and we got right down the the groom and groomsmen photos! This is where I’d usually highlight the fun moments BUTTTTTT, as I do in all the blogs, I like to highlight THE moments of the day and Jesse taking on the role of groom had us SO pumped! He didn’t miss a beat!

Then, we ran over to the ladies’ building where they had been getting ready all day and it was my time to shine because if there’s one thing I’m great at…not to toot my own horn…it’s catching up a timeline (Julianna later texted me after the wedding and said she couldn’t believe she had looked at the clock at one point and we’d made it to the ceremony…with one minute to spare….no joke…HA!). So, back to the story…getting ready moments were had!

Then, we went out for bridesmaids’ photos. It was my executive decision to skip the bridal shots and get those later. Julez was concerned about the guests arriving and seeing her (and many people were concerned about the cookie table being photographed completed). Ironic moment too…my nail polish happened to match this wedding and these dress colors perfectly.

SO, after we got the bridesmaids’ (and flower girls’) photos complete, we took Julianna over to do a private moment with her soon to be husband. It was crunch time at this point! So, Lacey ran and got Jesse. She got him all set up…and then I got Julianna set up…I snapped two photos. I then left it to Lacey and Tyler to finish the rest and I hightailed it back up to the reception venue to get the cookie table again just in case they had added some more since I was there the first time.

…and the photos of Jesse and Julianna! I hadn’t considered it at the time but Jesse is a brick layer and I chose this spot because it was private…NOT because of the brick but Lacey said he mentioned that he liked it and I just LOVE when it all works out like that!

Then, it was time for the ceremony! Shoutout to the people who let me sit with them. I hadn’t realized just how curved the aisle was until Lacey (mid ceremony after bride hand off) said “you’re going to have to go up far…the aisle is curved”. So, I was able to park myself with some guests and take photos without being a distraction! YAY!

After these two were pronounced Mr. & Mrs…it’s typically time for family formals BUTTTTTTTT some very sweet and kind friends of theirs arranged for their dogs to come for a photo. I’d met them (the dogs) at the engagement session so I was a friendly face (and scent) to them. Once again, time was of the essence! Julez was living her best (unaware of time) life so it was at this point I had a hold of her veil….and her dress…and as she was excitedly trying to leave me post dog photos… I held on tight. We had lots of photos to do and what’s so funny…is that she told me she doesn’t even remember this! I wasn’t letting her go anywhere! Nope. No way! She had tasked me with photo requests and you all knowwwwww me. I take those lists very seriously. She’s probably laughing reading this. But I wasn’t letting my bride go anywhere…nope!

So, after family photos were completed (there’s lots and lots in their gallery)…we took the bridal party on a field trip and got those group photos!

Then, we HAD to get those bridal photos, right?!! OooOOo yes we did!

Bride stands in field and holds fuchsia bouquet for bridal photos

Then, drumroll pleaseeeeeee….my favorite part of ANY wedding…the bride/groom formals!

Bride and groom pose in field

The absolute amount of excitement I get this time of year!! The fields are dead (and you know I love the dead stuff) and it’s just gloriously BEAUTIFUL out!! Throw in a couple…and my Hannah heart is HAPPY!

Then, we went ALL IN…right into that field!

Bride and groom pose infield for a couple photos

We did it! We were about 3/4 of the way through the day and its as time to “rest”, relax and get to the reception! I DID promise Julianna I would pick bugs out of her dress…and I’m one to keep a promise! HA! Under the dress and layer by layer we go!

Anddddddddddd…another drum roll, pleaseeeee!!! Mr. & Mrs. Crane were announced and then many people made speeches and blessing was given before dinner.

Julianna wanted sunset/golden hour photos so we trecked (literally hiked) up this big hill to do just that! There was some confusion about the cookie table and whether we’d gotten the photos before guests got to eat them so I sent Lacey back to make sure we covered everything!

Then, we got some absolutely fabulous golden hour photos!

Back to the party we went because they had cake to cut, first dances to complete ANDDDD the traditional bouquet and garter removal and toss!

FIRST UP, cake! And cake smash it was!

At some point in the night, Julianna went outside and became a real life Disney princess! Shoutout to the flower girls for the assist with the bubbles!

Pittsburgh DJ Company kept the night going on the dance floor! AND the photo booth was a hit too!

Then, we ended our night with this couple with a mock sparkler exit! It’s the dip for me!

ANDDDDDDD just one more! I don’t usually do this “pose” because someone always gasps…but I promise…these are ring fingers…not the other ones!

And that’s a wrap on our very first Monarch Veil wedding! Shoutout to this couple for hiring a great team of vendors and bringing us up to a new venue to add to our list. Julianna and Jesse, I hope this wedding was everything you wanted it to be and MOREEEEEEEE!! They are first on the blog for September (even though their wedding was in August). Give them ALL your Hannah Barlow Photography love and thanks for reading about the Cranes BIG DAY!
