Casey & Zac’s Fall Engagement Photos

Hello, everyone! Welcome! This engagement blog can be best described as chaos…HANNAH CHOAS…and in the very BEST of ways. You see…Casey and Zac know me. They have many mutual friends who have been clients of mine. Zac was the best man in a wedding I photographed last year AND Casey and her mom (Hi, Tracy!) came to my studio to interview me for this wedding prior to hiring me. They know me…they know my energy…so it was SUPER exciting to roll into Casey’s parents’ farm in Hookstown, PA for this session! Instead of getting right into photos, we chit chatted about this and that. I made friends with their cat. I threw my gear into the back of their side by side (Zac swiftly went and got me a box to protect it)…and off we went! It was A DAY…and so great…my Hookstown weddings and sessions never fail to disappoint which led me to telling my husband I want to move there one day! HA!

So, please give this new couple all your Hannah Barlow Photography love…their engagement blog is live right now! ENJOY!

I’m going to go a little out of order for story telling purposes! So, we hopped in the side by side and off we went! FIRST STOP…ceremony location! These two are getting married on this farm next June and they are wonderful enough to include me in some of the planning…including scoping out their ceremony space! We did that and then I spun them around and we took these…It’s beautiful. But it wasn’t “that spot” I was looking for…and lucky for me…I could totally be Hannah about this and be like, “Nope! They’re good…but not my spot!” I’ve also quickly swooped Casey into enjoying my shenanigans with the “dead stuff” and I’ve been sending her photos wedding after wedding to convince everyone not to neat and tidy the farm up next year (if you know me…you know).

I was looking for that beautiful dead stuff. And there is SOOOO much beauty to go around. I thought this was going to be it…it’s pretty…but “not it” quite yet!

So, back in the side by side we went. Zac said, “Just yell when you see something!”…and I saw something! Thissssss is when the squealing started!! This was the little location I was looking for…good light…good foliage…alllll the things I love!

So, let’s take a walk and use all of it!

We had bright light and filtered light and alllll that glow! There’s nothing better than being able to be 100% me and a couple just letting my crazy ideas flow!

I had them dance…little did they know…I’d made stuff up at the beginning of this session. I usually have people “dance”…but I had them truly dance and said “go in…go out…spin around…NOW KISS!” I don’t know why…but I had them do it and they kept doing it over and over. I don’t usually throw couples ALL IN…but again…I know them. They know me! They nailed it and we laughed the whole time!

Meanwhile, the hunters were probably like “OOOoo MY GOSH! SHHHH!!!!!”…but in my defense, I did tell Casey I thought this was a terrible idea to go stink up the woods during hunting season. I am married to an avid hunter…I know better…but the client wants what she wants! HA! But once I was in, I was IN…and the Hannah excitement was full throttle.

Don’t be fooled with all that color. The black and white photos lately ARE IT!

Then, we did some more driving around. They took me to a little stop that had been used by photographers before! It also didn’t disappoint, became another favorite, and we started just talking and getting creative with the posing at this point. It didn’t feel like a work session anymore. I’m telling you…the Hookstown clients are amazing to be around!

More dancing! And I tell you…they coach themselves “in…and out…and spin…and kiss”!!! It’s definitely going to be new prompting on my list from here on out! I highly doubt anyone will roll with it the way these two did though!

To a new location!!!! This was at their home. The light was just GLOWING!

Then, Zac took us to a lake!

….and we came back to the wall to seal the deal on photo time!

But wait! There’s more! Here’s what actually happened at the beginning of the session. We took the time to plan out their ceremony a bit. Where they might stand…where I might stand…alllll the things! Isn’t it SO fun?!

…and last but not least…they carved their initials in this tree. I told them they needed to do this photo EVERY year on their anniversary! I can tell you we’ll for sure be doing this next year! I already added it to their list!

Whether you can believe it or not, 2025 weddings are already here! I’m already working with my couples on timelines and what not! It’s so crazy to me but 2024 has been SUCH an amazing season I can’t wait to see what these couples come up with next year! If there’s one thing I know…without a doubt and FOR SURE…Casey and Zac’s wedding will be one for the books (blogs). Get ready to see lots of familiar faces next year! It’s going to be amazing! Thanks for reading!!! Happy Monday!
