Beatty Park Engagement Photos Steubenville Ohio

Hello! I have two great things for you…not just a NEW COUPLE to show you but also a NEW LOCATION for engagement photos – Beatty Park in Steubenville Ohio! Meet Emily and Andrew! They are currently Steubenville residents and pivoted their plans for their engagement session and decided to keep it very close to home. Beatty Park is a place they often hike and enjoy so this was the perfect place for their engagement photos! So, please give this couple all your Hannah Barlow Photography love and enjoy their forest and moss themed session!

We met up for this session and as I usually do, I put them in my car and off we went. We started at the top of the hill and then walked down. I was so impressed with how laid back they were about the wet ground, high heels, and all the things that could have gone wrong. Not these two! Emily was barefoot at one point! No kidding! They’re super easy to talk to and I found myself just chat chat chatting away like I do when I’m super comfortable!

So, about their session…Emily wanted this moss table in some of the photos but the light down there and forest cover left them pea green in many so I moved them to this little lit area and we made it work! I also loved the moss! What an idea!

Then, they took me to this little old stone building. I had NO idea Beatty Park even existed. I was so excited and probably too overly interested in this place. I very much appreciated Andrew giving me the history and pointing out that some people of Steubenville, Ohio decided to revitalize this park a while back including putting up signs that tell you a lot of the history of each little location.

Moss is very lime green sometimes so I had to be extra vigilant to include it because they loved it but also…make sure their skin wasn’t green. Lucky for them (or unlucky for them), they learned a whole lot about light and why photographers care so much! I even stood in this location prior to taking their photos and said, “Do I look green?” They probably thought I was nuts!

This was one of my very favorite angles for them! I told Andrew to “lean like men lean”! HA!

I think that ring photo (below) on the moss is one of my favorites…ever!

The forest in these areas is lush! So, I took any advantage I had of any spots of light! These stairs are super cool too!

Then, these two recommended we check out the “pool”. Well, it’s the former pool in Steubenville, Ohio that was shut down in the 1970’s because of maintenance costs (according to the sign because…yes…I read them). I’m telling you…go check out Beatty Park. You’d be SHOCKED to know they had a pool up on this hill at one time! AND…bonus…it had the most amazing golden hour light up there! So, that’s how we wrapped up this session!

…and with a lot of laughs. Don’t let her hair and makeup fool you, we were DRIPPING in sweat! These were taken last Monday when the heat wave began but they never missed a beat!

The hikes…the heat…these two seriously didn’t let it get them down and that’s great because their November wedding this year may be VERY different! Time will tell! We could even have snow! You never know but I’m very excited! They’re actually my last wedding of the year so far! Thanks for reading, everyone!
