Hello! Hello! Hello!!! The LAST engagement session of 2021 is HERE and ready to be seen! EKKKKK!! It’s got a red dress too and it’s December and it’s ALL my favorite things. You know the drill…scream it from the rooftops because it’s a “NEW COUPLE ALERT!” Give Jenny (Jen…or Jennifer) and Andy all your Hannah Barlow Photography love! They’re on the blog RIGHT NOW! Enjoy!
I met Jen last year at Candice and Dan’s wedding (Heyyyyyy, you two!). I don’t remember Andy being there and Jen confirmed that he was there just for a brief while because he was on call for work. You know me…I’d be scouring the wedding gallery for some photos of these two if that wasn’t the case. So, it was super exciting to show up to their BEAUTIFUL home and take these photos. It was definitely a “you’re just going to have to trust me” kind of moment when I spotted one lone pine tree and lots of dead stuff (my favorite). Jen came out in that red dress and Andy was wearing neutral and it was just pure perfection! Just look!
I always tell my couples, “If you don’t know what to do…just laugh”…nailed it! This is one of my favorites!
I’m just feeling all this so much! I was a December bride though so it makes sense. There was also not ONE bit of wind either which is super rare for winter sessions! WooOoooO! Winning!
Meet Heidi and Mik! They were the whole reason we did these at the couple’s home location! I’d love to say they loved me…but that was NOT the case. I even tried to make friends ahead of time. Mik didn’t like my flash and told me ALL about it. You can see his annoyance looking at it in this photo (below). Seriously, I can’t stop giggling. Heidi? Yea…she was NOT a fan of mine at first with all my rooster noises. I’d call her an introvert, for sure! I had to cool it on the Hannah energy. They’re amazing dogs though (don’t let my funny stories fool you) and stayed RIGHT with their mom and dad…to protect them from the crazy lady, I’m sure! HA!
Here’s the result of the rooster noises! HA! Mik went crazy…Heidi looked up and said (I swear I could hear her thoughts), “Dad…make her stop, please!” HA!
So, I channeled my inner calm and spoke softly. Mik was on board…Heidi? She was mad mad MAD at me! Wouldn’t even look at me! HA! Still giggling over here!
Mik and Heidi ran in and out of the photos while we did a little of this and a little of that (you can see her totally photobombing below). She was definitely keeping an eye on me from here on out, that’s for sure. I did photoshop them out of the photos so the couple could have the best of both worlds…fur babies in some…and no fur babies in the others! Nonetheless, Jen and Andy SOMEHOW just rolled through all of it and never looked distracted and it made for some amazing photos! EEKKK!
Then, I had some more “you’re just going to have to trust me” inspirations! We used their barn to make some more magic and give this gallery some contrast!
We practiced the dip and modified dip! Heidi stood as protector! She never made a peep and you wouldn’t have even known she was there!
I’m really loving all the colors and how they all came together!
Then, Andy grabbed his tractor. If men have ANY ideas…we take them allllllllll!
Then, the doggies went for a swim and we wrapped up this session with some candids! OooO my goodness ME!
Also, this session is a sharp contrast to what we’ll be doing next summer for Jen and Andy’s wedding. They’re having a July wedding and while this session was cool…my next time with them in front of my camera will NOT be. But I can NOT wait. There are going to be some familiar faces at that wedding too and these two are so laid back I’m going to be able to do my Hannah thing and that’s always the best thing EVERRRRRRR. WooooooOoOO! Well, that’s it for now. Check back next year for wedding magic! Thanks all for reading.
Happy Wednesday!
…and just because…here is Jen and Candice last year! I can’t wait to switch the roles now!
