2024 sure has been a year of new venues for the Hannah Barlow Photography team BUT…it was NOT a wedding this past Saturday for new faces…at least not all new faces! New venue…YES! Familiar “friends”…also YES! That means double the excitement for me! Almost 4 years ago, I got photograph the Greyno family for the first time. This particular day last weekend…it was time for Hunter, their youngest child, to get married! Shaelyn and Hunter have been incredibly easy and kind to work with…which is no surprise to me whatsoever. It was A DAY…in the BEST way! So, please give the new Mr. & Mrs. Greyno all your Hannah Barlow Photography love! Their wedding at the Home Farm Barn is on the blog right now! ENJOY!
The logistics for this wedding at the beginning of the day were tricky and pivotal to making the whole day go smoothly. Ashleigh and I left bright and early and drove about an hour and a half to the bride and groom’s home where the ladies were getting ready. I was welcomed with open arms by both familiar and new faces and we got right down to business in the flurry of activity! There was definitely a LOT going on!
Ring boxes have been big this year! I’m REALLY feeling fall details right now too!
We were racing the clock and its as time for Shaelyn to get in her dress!
Then, in what felt like a blink of an eye…we were off to the Home Farm Barn in Indiana, PA! I hit that GPS and off we went…with an anticipated one hour commute which ended up being longer because I swear we hit every single red light on 22…and it was a lot of lights BUT we finally arrived and it was beautiful!
I’ve missed having bold color in my couple’s wedding palettes this year…but this wedding did not lack ANY color…it had ALL the colors including groom color! So, details were a must even though they weren’t in the plan!
Time to get the groom ready!
And now…this was the pivotal moment Hannah and her big fat mouth almost ruined everything. That’s right…I needed to put my big fat foot in my big fat mouth (that’s the next title of my podcast too). You see…the couple had planned a traditional pre-ceremony first look. What Hunter didn’t know…is that the Best Man and Shaelyn had planned a mock/fake/joke first look. I knew about it…I knew WELLLL in advance. I had sticky notes everywhere…I made sure during our meetings with Hunter that I didn’t say anything. I texted Shae privately about it. Amy (Hunter’s mom) and I talked about it privately too. It was ALL planned. I KNEW BETTER! And then in the flurry everything and all the chaos and RIGHT in the getting ready suite, I thought Hunter had stepped out. Nope…the guy in the brown jacket behind me and to my left WAS Hunter so imagine Amy’s surprised when I say, “Where’s the guy who is going to do the fake first look?” and she gave me that big eyed “mom” look and I shook my confused head, “no?” and she shook her head “NO!” and in my periphery I saw Hunter…cue the music. Fire me NOW! Amy was on it..and I feel like I saw a glimpse and what Sydney and Hunter saw when they misbehaved in public. HA! I’m laughing now…I was panicking in the moment.
BUT…being the sneaky only child that I am (only children KNOW)…I try to be ready to get out of any situation…so I said, “OOoO well. We’ll do a fake, mock, mom first look anything since you’re in here….” and we proceeded to do the fake/mom/first look that I made up on the fly. Looooooordddd have mercy. HANNAH! But I feel like, in the end, everything is meant to be in the wedding world because I have some really sweet photos of Hunter’s sister and his mom four years ago!
Alright! Deep breaths…we got through it! So, THEN, the best man got ready…which was a totally hilarious moment and I set Hunter up and then I set “Shae” (Fake Shae) up…and we got down to the first look. I spoke out loud to “Shae” as I got her into position (it was actually the best man but Hunter could hear me…so follow me here). Do you recognize this dress? You should…it’s literally the same one Shae wore to their engagement session HERE! The shoe/sock combination has me cracking up!
Ok. Ok! After that one was done, it was time for the REAL bride/groom first look!
Then, as I always do, I asked the couple where their favorite places around the venue were…and Shae said the Willow trees! She actually said this was THE reason she chose this venue…soooOOoo PERFECT! OooOO my goodness ME! She’s right…it’s just BEAUTIFUL!
Guests were starting to filter in so we also hid beside the barn and got just a few more!
Then, we got the couple inside in hiding and I got to photograph the inside of this beautiful barn and reception space!
Time for the ceremony! If there’s one thing about the Greynos, it’s that the wedding Gods always bless them with the most beautiful weather and light. I get it. They deserve it. They’re the most kind and beautiful humans. They deserve all the good wedding day things. I also love the contrast of the very traditional Catholic ceremony their family had four years ago at Hunter’s sister’s wedding to this more laid-back, outdoor ceremony in 2024.
After being pronounced Mr. and Mrs…I caught this sweet moment with the ring bearer! We let guests disperse and awaited family formal time!
Time to get right down to family formals! Another amazing thing about this family is that family formals are very easy. It could’ve been a fluke before, but this proved it. So, shout out to everyone that was on the family formals list who stayed during cocktail hour and made this go ever so smoothly! I’ve got lots and lots of family formals in the couple’s gallery but let’s shoutout the immediate family members here!
THE CHILDREN at this wedding were absolutely angels and rockstars!
Then, we got right down to bridal party. I have CRAVED (and I can’t stress it enough) bold, bright color this year. It’s been a lot of muted colors and lots of blues and greens and while this wedding DID have a green color palette, Shae and Hunter really went ALL out and gave me ALL the color I could EVER dream of! So, feast your eyes on some true Hannah Barlow Photography like photos!
Cue all the lovey music because my wedding photographer heart is SO happy!
You can’t truly understand the joy a wedding like this gives wedding vendors like us unless you’ve experienced it countless weddings over the years. But when the children are even smiling? You KNOW you’ve settled with a good group of people! We stayed ahead of schedule for the rest of the day which is WILD!
The beautiful ladies!
AND the beautiful bride by herself!
Hunter chose his outfit and kept it a secret from Shae! That’s right! He did NOT disappoint! I got a sneak peek at their engagement session and it was even better in real life!
I’ve photographed a few of these men before! As a group? 10/10!
…and because I’m never REALLY done when I’ve got perfect light in a new location and the photos are just STUNNING with a super easy going couple…MORE bride and groom formals!
…and some MORE! Ok…I’m really done now. For now…until golden hour!
We ran in to get ready and set up for reception which the couple had a few moments to get set, as well. The cookie table was beautiful so I, of course, had to photograph lots and lots of cookies!
Introductions…were some of the best I’ve seen in a long while! They went ALL out!
Then, they did all the traditional things!
Garter and bouquet tosses have made a HUGE comeback in 2024 this year! I think 50% of my weddings have had them…and in years past…I’ve had hardly any! So crazy how things come and go!
Then, the party got started!
As promised, we went out for golden hour…at the willow trees, of course! The Wedding Gods really said, “Let me give you more perfect light!” AND I am so thankful and grateful!
There was mingling. There was lots of dancing. Ashleigh and I were in and out trying to catch it all!! I made new friends…I got to hug old friends…it was A DAY…and I already want to go back and do it all over again!
I LOVE weddings like this one! The moment I saw Shaelyn and Hunter’s names pop up in my inbox, I was excited and SO hopeful they’d have me as their photographer. It’s been four years since I’ve seen this family in person and I got to see some other familiar family and friends! It’s my hope and DREAM to be seeing some in this group again SO who is getting married next?! Raise those hands up high! I need more weddings like this in my life! It fills my heart right up! Every person I ran into…vendor, familiar face…new face…met me with positive, happy energy and smiles! Seriously, I have the BEST job ever!
Only three more weddings to go! SO CRAZY!
Congrats to the NEW Mr. & Mrs. Greyno! I hope it was everything you dreamed it to be and MORE!
