The universe is a funny place…and the world is SMALL! I will tell you why right now. This couple is a great example. YEARS ago (like 15ish now?) I was a registered nurse working on a telemetry med/surg floor and I was assigned to help train a new employee. I remember that employee well…we got along great. She was a hard worker…I was a hard worker. I remember many laughs and moments together…night shifts that were OooOOoo so long and lots of conversations about her daughter, Sunnie. I moved on to have my own babies, quit my job…and accidentally became a wedding photographer. She moved on and I am SURE is still one of the best nurses out there…and Sunnie? Well, she grew up too…….and hired me to be her wedding photographer! THE WORLD IS WILD, YOU ALL!
So, here we are! Sunnie and Taylor’s engagement session at Waterfront Hall is on the bog right now! Happy Friday, everyone! Please give them all your Hannah Barlow Photography love!

Sunnie had a vision for her engagement photos and she has a Pinterest board to prove it. She asked if we could do them inside Waterfront Hall and the staff there (because they are the best ever) were more than happy to accommodate! So, we met on a Monday night when they were closed and got right down to making this couple’s vision for engagement photos come to life!

I always say…I want my couples to get what they want…lists and all! So, I printed her list and studied it in my car. I harnessed all those flash skills that have come in so useful year after year and we tackled all the poses and moments. These two are VERY easy to be around. They did come to the studio for a pre-wedding consult and I’ve run into one or the other here or there at weddings but I SWEAR I’ve met up with them other places too…but maybe that’s just their calm, welcoming personalities. They truly are very easy to be around and they tell me in their couple fun facts survey that they are actually pretty different in personalities!

We did serious more formal poses and then we did candids with lots of laughs!

The black and whites are TO DIE FOR in this gallery! I’m not normally a black and white kind of girl but jeesh…there is just something about these! If I ever get around to doing decade/time stamp styled shoots…I’d go for the 1920s with these two..maybe even a Casablanca theme! What do you think?

These two knew each other in high school but never really talked…fast forward and they ended up together TEN years total – started dating in 2015 and got engaged in 2021! Taylor gave Sunnie this ring while they were on vacation at the beach and I can’t wait for you to hear what they’re planning for their wedding (also at Waterfront Hall).

Ooooh these black and whites! These two were actually excited for their session…I didn’t sense one nerve from them! THAT makes my job so easy!

Then, I wanted to break it down some more and do some more “traditional” Hannah Barlow photos. Sunnie has a photo on her Pinterest board of the couple embracing in the middle of a restaurant. Because of some obstacles and signs, I chose this hallway to twist it and make it more unique! LOVE!

…and at every session…we walk…we snuggle…we look back!

Then, we got more relaxed and used this brick wall to our advantage!

…and last but not least, I took them outside to celebrate this session AND where they will be married next year! It’s the giggle and snuggle for me! GAH! I loved this session so much…and I’m sure Sunnie’s mom is laughing at me while reading this and saying, “Nothing has changed with Hannah”…I’ve always had too much energy…both as a nurse and as a wedding photographer!

HUGEEEE shoutout once again to Waterfront Hall’s staff (especially you, Carly) for taking time on their evening off to give one of their wedding couples the engagement session they really wanted! I’ll always appreciate you all!
Next September, in less than a year…these two will be getting married. They’re planning a ceremony down the road and then they’ll be right back at Waterfront Hall to celebrate for their reception! I’m with DJ Brian Oliver too…WooOOOooo! They tell me it’s going to be cozy, classy and romantic and definitely not “too much” keeping details small and more simple. Loving the vibe of ALL of this!
Thanks for reading everyone! I’m off to a wedding tomorrow! Happy Friday!
