HAPPY 2026, EVERYONE! It’s going to be a GREAT year…and do you know how I know that? Because the Wedding Gods are already speaking and granting me photographer wishes (and ones I didn’t even ask for or know I wanted)!
I purposely didn’t book any winter weddings this year and at the time (1-2 years ago…) I was glad for the future break and now…I’m just (was)…sad. I was a December bride myself and I LOVE the winter and the snow and it was giving me total wedding photographer envy to see all these other photographers post snowy weddings and engagement sessions.
Enter Kaylee and Ryan…*cue the music*. They were actually a “late” booking (any wedding within a year of the date I consider a “later” or “late” booking as I usually book 1-2 years in advance). They were a surprise addition to my 2026 calendar last fall ANDDDDDDDD then she texted me on the fly and asked, “can we do our engagement session in the next week or so?!” YES! YES! 1000 times YES! Now I get that snowy session I’ve been wanting!
So, meet Kaylee and Ryan who are starting the 2026 blogs off strong. They’re kind. They’re sweet. They’re SO easy to photograph and this is exactly the sign I needed that 2026 is going to be JUST FAB! We’re starting off with strong, good vibes! ENJOY!

Kaylee and Ryan have had lots and lots of photos together. They’re also super comfortable together…I could tell that right off the bat! That makes for fantastic picture taking opportunities especially when it’s 28 degrees outside and windy. These elements make it a weeeeee bit difficult to make photos look natural…most of the time. These two don’t count! They were rock stars!

Kaylee asked we make these more “couples photos” rather than engagement photos. I had a “slam on the breaks moment” and realized…I didn’t know what she meant! HA! AFTER A DECADE…I had wedding photographer question marks above my head. But then after some quick clarification, she just meant she didn’t want the whole gallery to focus on her ring…just a few. Good news for her…that’s my “standard” approach to ANY engagement session. You can only use SO many photos of rings, right?!

Imagine my utter disbelief and absolute giddiness when Ryan told me SOME OF HIS SENIOR PORTRAITS WERE TAKEN IN THIS EXACT SPOT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The coincidence, I tell ya! Meant to be! MEANT TO BE!

Then, we went to one of my favorite little “January spots”, as I call it! There’s not a whole lot of color or background this time of year so I have little spots I love! This is another one of them!

The black and whites turned out fab too! I always give the couple both color and black and white of every one of their engagement photos!

These two are both super laid back and they have been go with the flow since our first contact. The only thing Ryan wanted was some photos in their matching hoodies! Ask and you shall receive!

Then, the Wedding Gods really said, “let there be more light”! I wasn’t even planning for that “glow” and it just showed up and I couldn’t have been more excited about it!

Then, without prompting, Ryan started spinning Kaylee around and my photographer heart was about to burst. Their wedding is going to be SO easy and so fabulous!

Even though she didn’t request ring photos, I had to take JUSTTTTTT a few! Her ring is perfect for her. Dainty in a way…simple…but not really…lots of detail…but you have to look. Just look! It’s going to look beautiful on an invitation!

…and the PERFECT way to end a session is on this note – sweet couple, beautiful light, legit laughs and a candid moment.

That’s it! The VERY FIRST blog of 2026 is up and we’re ready to go for the year! Kaylee and Ryan get married in July. We laughed at the contrast in weather we’re going to experience the next time I see them. I have absolutely no doubts their wedding is going to be fabulous…and easy! I can’t wait to read this back later…and make sure you come back too to see them as bride and groom!
Thanks for reading everyone! If you’re new here…WELCOME! If you’re a loyal fan and reader, thanks for coming back year after year….I appreciate you!
