Noelle & Dylan’s City Engagement Session

Hi, everyone! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had an engagement session so I’m glad you’re all back here! NEW COUPLE ALERT! Meet Noelle and Dylan! Noelle wanted to do the city for her engagement photos and had some great inspo to share with me! We chatted back and forth…lined up our calendars (which ended up working out perfectly) and made it happen! They’re new here on the blog so please give them all your Hannah Barlow Photography love and ENJOY! Their engagement session is live on the blog right now!

There was ONE photo that was a “must have” for this couple…so I grabbed up an old assistant/second shooter of mine (Hey, Jenna!) and we went early to find the exact spot we’d seen online. Jenna lives in the city so she knew right where to go! What we didn’t expect…was this tree. This tree had grown since the time the other photos were taken. We made it work…tree and all! If I’m being completely honest, I spent all morning editing this photo. The lighting was very contrasty with the bright background and the shade the couple was actually standing in. Thank goodness for RAW images and editing in the 21st century!

Then, it was off to the bridges after getting this photo (above)! The rest of the this couple’s requests were on the bridge BUT…I looked over while taking the above photo and saw the most perfect (and I mean PERFECT) light! SooOOoo as I do, I chit chatted away and had them take JUSTTTTT a few here with the perfect pretty light! I’m interested to see how the couple feels about these. Do they love them? Do they hate them because it’s nothing like their inspo? Tell me! I always love to hear because sometimes the least expected photos end up being favorites…and sometimes…not!

Then, I sent them on their way…while photographing them, of course!

Then, it was my grand plan to photograph this side of the bridge so I could get more of the city in the background…and honestly? It was SO bright over there I couldn’t even tell if their eyes were open or just squinting! Sharing because this is a safe honest space here and I’m not all about the “perfect” because nothing in life (or photography) is ever picture perfect (see what I did there?)…and then I moved them. Two thumbs up for them putting up with my back and forth…back and forth!

You all know I’m allll about safety. This was all Noelle’s idea! She wasn’t even phased when a whole BUS came her way! So I made sure to get this right THIS ONE TIME! Another request on her list! CHECK!

THEN, we got to this side. And the light was GRAND…and OoooO so glowy! Just dreamy! These are some of my favorites! FOR SURE!

Black and whites were FAB too!

We had to show off the rings too!!! I also have a marquis cut! Noelle told me that was her only request when it came to her ring! Me too, girl….ME TOO!

Just look at those sun rays!

Once my couples get comfortable, I like to play with the posing and mix it up! They nailed it!

Then, we started the walk back to our cars and I snapped just a few more!

And that’s a wrap on this one! These two are getting married next Spring at Waterfront Hall…still a city…but more local! Noelle also went to my high school and Dylan went to another one close by! I just KNOW I’m going to be seeing so many familiar faces! It’s going to be a ton of fun! Both their ceremony and reception will be in the same place and we’re hoping for some grand rooftop photos too! I say it every year…spring weddings will be here before we know it! But first….fall. Let’s do this!
