Dad’s Vintage Camera

Canon must be our family’s brand of choice!

Before I went off to college in 2005, my mom bought me my first non-film camera.  It was a Canon Powershot point and shoot.  I loved that thing and I thought it was so amazing that I could look at the pictures I had taken, delete them, and retake them, if needed.  Amazing!  No more film!

Moving on to 2011, my husband bought me my first DSLR camera – my Rebel t1i.  I loved it and still have it.  I can’t bring myself to part with it despite having bought a full frame 6D recently.  It has a special place in my heart because it’s the camera that sparked my passion for photography.  I’ll probably keep it for a long time and pass it down to my daughter, but then I get to wondering…..how different will cameras be by the time she’s old enough to appreciate a great camera and a great photo?  Probably not that different! I say this because I stumbled upon my dad’s old camera from the 80’s today.  He gave it to me about a year ago.  I was going through my mess of an office today and found it.   I haven’t done anything with it since he gave it to me, so I looked at it more closely while I had some time.  For a camera that is 30+ years old, it’s fairly comparable to my new camera!  I, of course, couldn’t resist getting my new camera out to take pictures of an old camera.  Fun!

This camera is older than me.  In my mind…..it’s vintage.

So, I’m guessing that you had to put the film package details in this little slot, so you’d know what film you were using.  Help me out, Dad!
