Wheeling Country Engagement Session | Hannah Barlow Photography | WV Wedding Photography

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged!  The holiday week really threw me back a few days. I’ve really been trying to force myself to take a day off for special events/days/holidays but now I’m feeling very behind!! It’s a double edged sword for me – Type A, Control Freak, Gotta Keep Upper.  Those of you who know me are probably shaking your heads with confirmation and giggling!  Nonetheless, I did take the holiday off (I DID!) BUT not before getting to meet these two wonderful individuals!

Meet Audrey and Kyle!

I recently JUST got to get on board for their August wedding.  That’s right!  They’re getting married in a little over a month.  Audrey reached out to me a month or so ago thanks to another fellow and local photog (HEY, Kristin).  Kristin was booked for their date when they reached out to her so she sent them my way.  I couldn’t be more thankful and excited!! There was a mix up for their wedding in regards to photography so I’m the lucky gal now and I’m SO GLAD!  SO SO SO GLAD!  I originally closed out my calednar for 2018 early in the spring but a schedule change gave me the oppotrunity to take on just one more!  I’m telling you…MEANT.TO.BE.

Audrey and Kyle were so sweet from the moment they stepped out of the truck for this session.  It was HOT this day too and they were all calm, cool, and collected.  I think I was sweating more than them!  I didn’t even need to photoshop any sweat or sheen off of them which was crazy!  That’s talent on their part!  I’m always a hot mess when it’s warm out.  Sometimes August weddings make me a little nervous too because of the heat but these two are going to have NO issues.  If they can survive the heat of this session…they’ll be good to go!  They’re also more traditional like me and planning a church wedding and an indoor reception.  We’ll be cool no matter what!

I had these two placed UST off an asphalt path for these photos.  They told me they wanted “country” and I can’t even begin to imagine what they thought when I instructed them to stand just two feet off the asphalt path.  I then proceeded to lay on that asphalt to take these photos! HA!  I know..just know..I probably get looks when I’m glancing down at my camera.  Nonetheless, I think they’re pretty excited about the end result!  I may seem to be crazy at the time…but I have a plan…a grand plan! ALWAYS!  I really love how these turned out too!

Then, I found this little spot.  I’d never been to it before and these trees were SO intriguing!  I love love love to give all my couples unique pictures as much as I can and this was just working for me and my creative brain!  I had asked originally via email if they minded a little hike…that was before we knew it would be pushing 90 degrees…but HEY! We like the end result! Win!

I’m glad they picked country too because they actually got engaged on the beach!!  Makes for a great variety on the wall, right?! Kyle planned it all out.  They traveled down to North Carolina to “surprise” her family (I’m guessing her mom really wasn’t surprised considering she was in on the plan…at least, I think she was in on it!).  Anyway, their family always likes to take family photos at the beach and her mom had Kyle and her go first for the photo op!!  AND A PHOTO OP IT WAS! After a few click, click, clicks…Kyle popped the question!! Tears flowed.  “Yes” was announced and the rest is going to be on my blog! 🙂 HA!  I added a little ring shot below too, of course!

So, we started heading back to the cars.  I had not seen this area decorated with flowers before so I asked if they’d be willing to take a few more photos here too!  Because they’re so easy to get along with (and even though we were all pretty sweaty at this point…at least I was), they agreed and I just love them for it!

Of course, there was dancing!

…and then Kyle spun her so effortlessly!  I squealed.  I’m hoping this happens at the wedding too (especially on the dance floor) because it’s going to be AMAZING!! Kyle…do this.  Spin her.  It’ll be EPIC!  GAH!  I can’t wait!

…and just like that…they went back into dancing.  Because they’re that easy to photograph and so natural and it wasn’t weird for them at all for me to be standing there snapping photos!  They did say they liked having their photo taken!! It shows!

Gosh…how do I alwaus get so lucky?!

These two have planned a navy and sunflower wedding with a country and primitive theme.  I’ve never photographed one like that before so I’m super excited!  They said simple is what they love and sometimes less is more.  I can’t wait to see it!

Check back at the end of August for their wedding blog!  They’re saying their “I dos” in Moundsville but will be celebrating big at the Carne Center in St. Clairsville, Ohio!

Happy Hump Day!
