Barkcamp State Park Formal Wedding Photos

Happy Thursday! I’ve got a wedding tomorrow so you know what that means…you’re getting a wedding blog on Thursday because we need to celebrate this sweet couple before tomorrow! Caroline and Nate tied the knot last weekend and some of these faces MAY just look familiar. So, give these two newlyweds all your Hannah Barlow Photography love and ENJOY! They are Mr. & Mrs. Conaway now!

Lacey and I started off our morning trying to find the Harrison household (which…ironically…I’ve been to before). I probably didn’t listen to my GPS or it just thought it’d be funny to drive us in circles, but we were “lost” for a minute after taking our exit. Nonetheless, I knew I wasn’t going in the correct direction and we made about five wrong turns before I recognized the neighborhood…finally! So, that’s where we started – the Harrison household. It was a total blast from the past! The ladies were finishing up hair and makeup so we captured those moments.

Then, we got right down to details. Bodnars always gives me the prettiest flowers to photograph and they much such a great accent for these photos.

I ran down to the basement and caught the men getting ready. The Best Man told me he wasn’t getting ready yet. He had something he needed to do. I didn’t know what that thing was YET!

Lacey knew I was super excited to photograph this group again so she let me take alllllll the photos! First, the ladies had their photos before they went and got dressed!

Then, I HAD to have Caroline’s mom and aunts come out WITH Grandma. I mean…how often do you get this opportunity?!

Then, Caroline’s sister (who is also her twin) helped her get ready! This sunroom is still 10/10 perfection for getting ready photos!

Well, here’s the “thing” I was telling you about earlier when the best man told me he couldn’t get dressed yet. I was cracking up. This has been a trend for some time BUT I’ve never actually photographed it myself. Crazy, right?! I also wish you all could hear the audio more…all of us grown women were yelling “take off your SHIRTTTT!” HA! Nate had no idea what was coming! The first look was sure going to be interesting!

But we had other things we needed to do first! Caroline’s parents are adorable. It was an “accidental” thing four years ago when I had Dad all ready to go and Mom (Hi, Sharon!) popped her head out to make sure everything was a “go” for the first look. She was there. We saw an opportunity so we ran with it and did a Mother of the Bride and Father of the bride first look. Well, fast forward four years…we made it a tradition!

Then, Caroline and her dad got to have their moment.

THEN, Nate THOUGHT he was going to have his moment with Caroline. WRONG! I giggled the ENTIRE time!

You can’t blame a guy for being hesitant this time!

It was his bride though! He could relax.

Off we went for formal photos! Caroline and Nate requested Barkcamp State Park for photos and it was perfect! The light, the green, the weed line with those beautiful flowers…it’s all the things I love! That guy on the far right?! You probably recognize him as a former Hannah Barlow Photography groom too from…2018?! I think it was 2018!

…and now, the beautiful ladies! The light was perfect. The colors and that “weed” line with that Queen Anne’s Lace was perfection!

There is something so special about photographing someone you’ve known for a while.

Bride and Groom formals coming at ya! Caroline liked the idea of the red barn so we started there!

But, of course, I needed more of those white flowers in my wedding photographer life! I’d JUST told my husband, “You know, I haven’t gotten to photograph those yet this year [pointing to the ones in our own back yard].” The Wedding Gods said, “Ask and you shall receive!” September is one of my absolute favorite months to photograph couples!

Somehow, we got ahead of schedule. THIS NEVER HAPPENS! I’d not been stressed. I’d not had heart palpitations yet (and I never did)…it was such an amazing, laid back day. It totally makes sense though. Caroline and Nate are SO laid back too! So, while the couple and their bridal party got to head out for some fun in their limo, we went to the reception hall to photograph all the details.

Then, the bridal party arrived later and did some finishing touches before the ceremony.

Let’s get them married!

Immediately after, we did some formal photos. I’ll highlight the sibling groups on both sides! I always say that I hope my children’s wedding photographer does sibling photos! We took a WHOLE bunch of family formals too…but again, we had all the time in the world to do whatever the heck we wanted. Lacey and I kept looking at each other and saying, “Are we missing something?! WHY IS IT SO CALM?!”

…and because we had extra time, WHY NOT?! Let’s go to the pumpkin patch!

The couple was then announced into their reception and they went right into their first dance.

For speeches, we had one heartfelt speech…and then the Best Man made us laugh…and literally gave the couple “toast”. I can NOT. Those are always the best kinds of speeches!

Then, we got right down the the PARTTTYYYYY!

This wedding was such an amazing breath of fresh air. It’s always a weeeeee bit exhausting this time of year. I’m 20+ weddings in at this point so this wedding was everything we wanted and needed. Like I said, Caroline and Nate are SO laid back and that was definitely reflected on their wedding day. We had such an amazing time and it was very touching that Caroline asked me to be her wedding photographer after I did her sister’s wedding four years ago. There are two more sisters too…just saying!! It could be a whole THING! I hadn’t seen the whole Harrison family sine 2018 and I felt like I was back with family! It’s an amazing group.
