Summer Session Meets Holiday Engagement Photos

Hello Hello AGAIN! Blog 2 of 4 is coming at you right now and I am just SO SO excited about this one! The title probably threw many of you loyal Hannah Barlow Photography blog readers off because it’s not my typical title. Well, I didn’t plan it that way either but after editing this engagement session and then seeing the photos and THEN blogging them now, it just came to me. The first half feels very “summer greens” but the second half feels like holiday magic…SO…before I get too far into this engagement blog, please give Meghan and Ed all your love. They are the newest couple on the blog! Enjoy!

See what I mean with this preview?! Summer greens AND Winter Holiday!

Meghan, Ed, and I got to chat on Zoom prior to them booking me and we got along just fine! That vibe continued straight into this session. Her and Ed worked hard on their schedules to make this session happen only for it to be SO cold and WINDY! I actually photographed these two RIGHT after the last session I posted. So, you’re probably wondering where all that snow went…but we really just “faked it until we made it” and found spots that would fit the vibe. Little did I know, I’d end up with two very very very different sessions wrapped up into one 45 minute session! So, I met up with Meghan and Ed this day in Oglebay’s lobby. I felt like we clicked right off the bat AND they were all “we trust you Hannah…do your thing” AND I even threw them in my car (pre-wedding…I can only imagine the level of comfort we’ll have come the wedding day next October). So yea…I was excited because we’d only been together in person for a few minutes and it already felt like I was hanging out with a couple of my friends. So you know what that means in the Hannah Barlow Photography world!! ALLLLLLLL the photos for everyone! Let’s do this!

Hats are a thing this year and I’m 100% here for it!

It doesn’t hurt that these two are a beautiful couple inside and out but they really went for it with this weather and what you can’t see is that we were….FREEZING…and the wind was whipping us to death practically and my eyes were watering and Meghan was shivering and Ed was just putting up with the two of us like he deals with this all the time (which he does in his line of work…but still….HA!).

I love that you can’t tell the weather was against us this day. I looked crazy in my coat and hat and was yelling and cheering them on and they were just going with the flow so well that I got SO many great photos and barely had to retouch any hair (which is a miracle on this day).

Meghan wasn’t too sure about the prom pose! We’ll see if she’s still on the fence or accepting it now! Even with that hat (which can make this pose tricky), they nailed it. Nothing seemed difficult for these two!

Alright! Now, it’s going to look like a whole different day! I had put them back in my car (more so we could warm up more than anything) and we drove off to a little spot I found earlier in the day. It was 100%, “you’re just going to have to trust me” and they DID and OoOO my goodness me I am SQUEALING in my office right now! Doesn’t it just look like we did a summer session….and then came back for some winter, holiday, MAGIC?!

In reality, these were taken about 10 minutes apart. Crazy, right?! Perception is EVERYTHING in photography. At this point we’d gotten real comfy and Ed threw her back into a magazine worthy dip!

Then, I took real advantage of their trust and had them walk up into all the dead stuff. If you’re new here to the Hannah Barlow Photography blogs, I absolutely, positively can never EVER get enough…of the “dead stuff” which is just actually dead weeds! They photograph SO pretty too! Many couples give me a side eye (rightfully so) and then other couples like Meghan and Ed just go for it! It was starting to get dark too so we made the best of it!

I can’t with all ALLLLLL of this. The dress, the outfit coordination, Ed making it look easy, Meghan looking like she popped out of a magazine in that red dress. I NEED more of this PLEASE!

So, because…WHY NOT…we stopped and fed the deer! Despite the dreaded weather, it really really really was a perfect session!

That’s it! These two are having an October wedding next year! The weather very well could be the same but I already am confident we’ll have absolutely zero issues getting photos in whatever is thrown at us. AND I’ve got big wedding photographer dreams in my head for their wedding gallery!

Thank you all for reading! Have a great day!
