Alison and Adam’s Spring Engagement

Hello! Hello! I’m back, everyone! The first blog of the year is live! I can’t believe we made it into April without ONE Hannah Barlow Photography blog but here we are (there’s a first for everything, right?). It was a great break though and I’m ready to show my couples off again. AND…Alison and Adam are a perfect couple to start off the year for us…smiley, happy…you can just feel their joy all the time! I’m here for it! As soon as we were done with this session, I actually texted Alison and told her I couldn’t WAIT for their November wedding now because it’s going to be a breeze…and I texted Lacey too…and Brian Oliver is going to be there too…and if you’re new to my blogs, I apologize in advance. I’m going to ramble with hopefully minimal typos because I’m just SO EXCITED! So, please give these two all your Hannah Barlow love and ENJOY! First engagement session of the year…CHECK!

I think I talked more at this session than took pictures. I was sorry…kind of…but not really. These two felt like old friends right off the bat! Alison and I actually met last year at a wedding in 2022. She was a bridesmaid. We had an even funnier “introduction” when she reached out about her own wedding. I had told her I was booked (holy typo). I wasn’t booked…and didn’t even know I had typed that. SO, imagine my surprise when I scheduled a pre booking consult and was chatting with these two and she mentioned she was so bummed I was booked. I was SO confused. And then I clarified I was NOT booked…and I saw her excitement which prompted Adam’s excitement and I knew from that moment on this was my kind of couple…and if they end up wanting me to hang off a bridge in Pittsburgh to get their wedding photos…I’m planning to do just about anything!

I love a good early Spring photo and while I’m not always squealing about black and white (because you know I love some great color), I was really digging these!

…BUT…enough about me! These two met back in 2018 when they were both attending college at West Liberty University. They told me they had met in passing a few times but didn’t really start to get to know one another until Adam came up to Alison in the College Union one day and they ended up talking about a good hour! I can definitely see how they would just click from the start because they’re very comfy in front of my camera too!

They had been dating then for about three and a half years before Adam planned a proposal last summer! AND…not only did he plan a proposal, he also planned an entire surprise party with both their families. I can’t wait to meet everyone! I told Alison that the vibes I’ve always gotten from her and her friends make me extra excited for the wedding – chill, laid back, kind, sweet…all the adjectives! I can’t wait to meet the families now too!

Her ring is also to die for! All the close up, macro shots for this beauty will be coming to you November of this year!

They also told me this was the first time they’d had professional photos taken together! WEEEEEEE!! I love that!

At this point in the day, we’d been chatting and talking all things wedding and whiskey (for real) and topped off the session with some walking and snuggling and all the smiles!

These two are my second to last wedding for 2023 and we’re going to be celebrating at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott WITH DJ Brian Oliver and Lacey’s going to be second shooting (she was my second shooter for the wedding we met Alison at). OooO man…it’s going to be an AMAZING day! Sun…rain…snow…wind…the perfect day…whatever comes at us…I know it’ll be the perfect day with a couple like this! Bring it on! I needed this…this definitely sparked all the feels for the beginning of wedding season! Let’s do it!
